Something Smells In Chelsea

I just don't understand what's going on in Chelsea Quebec these days, our quiet little town is being bulldozed into a suburb of Gatineau by the Municipal Council and we as residents seem to be powerless to stop it. I am not quite sure why the Municipality thinks that they have a mandate to do this but they certainly not listening to any concerns of the Chelsea residents. CBC did a piece on this which you can listen to here. What is particularly remarkable is the was the Mayor Jean Peraz states that he thinks that any opposition to this grand project is "in the minority". I for one am fed up with being labeled as a "minority" if I disagree with the local council on any issues such as say raising my taxes 50%! How many people are there in a "Minority"? All of us? Pretty big minority if you ask me.

From my perspective, I see that real estate developers are calling the shots. The bigger picture is that the "suburbia" phenomenon destroys communiites-- what's happening is Chelsea is becoming a "bedroom community" of Ottawa-- and will not be "self sustaining" as a community-- unless this is stopped.

The only way I know of to stop that insidious process is to expose what's going on-- both in a micro and macro sense... and to do that, look at what Lyndon Larouche says about suburbs and communities.

QUOTE
General economic efficiency depends upon maintaining increasing percentiles, over 90%, of the total population within well-maintained cities, as opposed to the vastly wasteful correlation of growth of "suburbanization" and urban slums, during the recent forty-five-odd years. The breakdown of the cities, has driven people into suburbs, with the resulting costs in time and money to households(and costs to national, state, and local governmental agencies) incurred through commuting, and also as the social costs of breakdown in family life, including the increase in crime-rates: all caused, in large part, by the costs and other burdens of commuting-time, a affliction added to the effects of an increased number of incomes required per household. As the recent thirty years' experience demonstrates, low costs of production, low-cost quality education, and health-care, can not be provided under the combined impact of increasing suburbanization and shifts into the "neo-Malthusian, post-industrial"utopianism, and into virtual-reality fads such as"information society."

From this, I can surmise from a distance that Ottawa is breaking down. This is happening all over North America-- the financial monetary breakdown seen as a foreclosure crisis-- which is only a symptom, is striking at Canada now--

To grasp this is a challenge, but if you want to stop the wrecking of Chelsea, the best way is to distribute EIR to everyone on the town countil via email or paper. Spread EIR in schools, all over the area.

EIR [+] Stop the destruction and breakdown of Ottawa as a city using the principles larouche refers to-- and keep the big picture in mind-- since the world depends on the win of Hillary over Obama. Find out who the "Classical Humanist" leaning people are in Chelsea vs. who the British empire people are-- who support Globalization. It all goes together.

Here's my blog entry where I'll update this occasionally for you [+]
