Local Hero?
Although I claim to be concerned about the way the Chelsea Municipal Council is out of control and that "Someone should do something about it" I am actually pretty lazy, thank goodness that someone will step up to the plate and actually try to make a difference, Bob Milko a civic minded individual and long time Chelsea resident has put together a couple of petitions to try to bring our Council under control. There is one Petition that call for fiscal restraint and a second one that is intended to inform the Council that we residents are opposed to their grandiose high density housing project. Apathy is a big problem here, thankfully someone is "doing something". More information about this mess is available at The LowDown
Smells Awful
Well we got to take a look at the "Engineering Report" done by the Municipality of Chelsea that is supposed to advise we the people whether we should go ahead and build a little Barrhaven problem is that for the layman the report is quite difficult to read. Now I am no expert on water tables, sewers, clay and runoff but I know a Sharpie when I see one. The questions that come to mind are: 1) What are they trying to hide? 2) Why are they hiding it? and 3) Who is going to benefit from all of this?
Something Smells In Chelsea
I just don't understand what's going on in Chelsea Quebec these days, our quiet little town is being bulldozed into a suburb of Gatineau by the Municipal Council and we as residents seem to be powerless to stop it. I am not quite sure why the Municipality thinks that they have a mandate to do this but they certainly not listening to any concerns of the Chelsea residents. CBC did a piece on this which you can listen to here. What is particularly remarkable is the was the Mayor Jean Peraz states that he thinks that any opposition to this grand project is "in the minority". I for one am fed up with being labeled as a "minority" if I disagree with the local council on any issues such as say raising my taxes 50%! How many people are there in a "Minority"? All of us? Pretty big minority if you ask me.
